RAPIDBAC™ VET (RBV)

What advice would you have for veterinarians who are considering RapidBac™ Vet?

DR. WILLIAMS

If you are not using it, you should. I can’t imagine practicing without it. It saves time, money and prevents unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions. Absolutely essential product for evidence driven clinicians!!!

RBV

Under what circumstances do you use RapidBac™ Vet?

DR. WILLIAMS

Stranguria, hematuria, polyuria/polydypsia, diabetic and Cushingoid assessments, off-labeled for septic abdomen, pyothorax, septic arthritis. I have even had a Lepto dog turn positive on RBV, negative on C/S and positive on urine Lepto PCR, no recent antibiotic use. I think it was detecting the Gram-negative Leptospirochete cell wall?

RBV

Do you think that RapidBac™ Vet is a trustworthy alternative to microscopic urinalysis (or other methods) for detecting bacteriuria?

DR. WILLIAMS

It is far better than urine sediment cytology. I see so many in-hospital reports describing cocci presence that I know are not cocci.

RBV

What do you do when you get a positive result with RapidBac™ Vet?

DR. WILLIAMS

Depending on budget and case history, I either send-off for culture or treat and repeat RBV one week after treatment. I often treat and repeat during treatment of significantly resistant infections, chronic cystitis/pyelonephritis or with urinary calculi during dissolution therapies.

RBV

What do you do when you get a negative result with RapidBac™ Vet?

DR. WILLIAMS

I conclude there are no significant bacteria present associated with current clinical signs.

RBV

How do you use RapidBac™ Vet in cases of diabetic patients?

DR. WILLIAMS

All new DM are screened with RBV.

RBV

How do you use RapidBac™ Vet in emergency/24-hour care?

DR. WILLIAMS

Cystitis, hematuria, stranguria, polyuria, FUO presenting complaints include RBV in work-up.

RBV

How long have you been using RapidBac™ Vet?

DR. WILLIAMS

3-4 years, started in Shreveport LA @ University Vet Hospital.

RBV

Why did you originally purchase RapidBac™ Vet?

DR. WILLIAMS

For on-the-spot infection assessment.

RBV

Who in the clinic actually performs the test?

DR. WILLIAMS

Technicians.
